Lyndi Weisberg, an eighth-grade student, was instrumental in coordinating the event. Through a variety of activities, the students and faculty contributed $1,169 to the American Heart Association. Students in sixth, seventh and eighth grades were encouraged to form coed basketball teams. These teams played each other. For some reason Williamsport officials seem to think that these kids and young adults should have to leave town or run the risk of being fined for practicing in Their own town. When are our leaders going to realize that it's not going away. Members of the Pennsylvania High School Rodeo Association have been traveling throughout the state for the past month to participate in rodeos and earn points to compete at the National finals and three area teens - Brent Phillips (Beech Creek), Ashley Derr (Linden) and Tyler Waltz (Jersey Shore) - have excelled. The first spring rodeo was held on April 4-5 at Homestead Farms in Hummelstown. [read more]

STONY FORK - The Tiadaghton chapter of Trout Unlimited will hold its fourth annual First Cast program from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Stony Fork Creek campground. Check-in begins at 9:30 a.m. First Cast is a nationwide initiative for children ages 8 to 18. Participants learn coldwater conservation through angling and related programs, such as fly casting, fly tying, aquatic entomology, watershed conservation and fly fishing for trout. Montoursville Girls Soccer :: PIAA Class AA :: STATE CHAMPS!
The Warriors earned the title by defeating South Park 3-1 on a rain-soaked Hersheypark Stadium. Montoursville was carried by a gutsy performance from senior forward Tesa McKibben, who scored two goals, both times capitalizing on South Park mistakes. Loyalsock Lancer Boys' & Girls' Soccer Teams Advance in PIAA: On Saturday, the girls' soccer team captured its first District 4 title over rival Lewisburg. In a very hard-fought win, our girls persevered and now will play Tuesday, Nov. 4 in the PIAA state playoffs. The boys' and girls' soccer teams both walked away with impressive wins Tuesday evening.
