build prideTHE CHOICE
You had many reasons
for dropping out of school.
That choice may have seemed
right to you at the time. But the
price that you may eventually pay
can be great. Young people who
don’t complete high school face
more problems in later life
than do people who graduate.
Like it or not, most employers
want to hire employees
who do have a diploma.

You’re not alone. Thousands of students face challenges as dropouts. This guide has been developed to give you information about The Learning Center programs.

Earnings and Opportunities
for Dropouts ~ the FACTS:
• The earning gap between dropouts and people with a high school diploma is widening.

• Dropouts will earn $200,000 less than high school graduates over their lifetime.

• More than 860,000 adults worldwide take the GED Tests each year.

• GED graduates include comedian Bill Cosby, actor Christian Slater, Delaware’s Governor Ruth Ann Minner, and U.S. Senator Ben Nighthorse Campbell of Colorado.

• One out of every seven school diplomas issued per year in the United States is based on passing the GED tests.

• More than 95% of U.S. employers consider GED graduates the same as traditional high school graduates in regards to hiring, salary and opportunity for advancement.

Options to Finish Your Basic Education
Once you are ready to improve yourself and your job possibilities, consider finishing your basic education. The Learning Center offers FREE GED classes.

THE GED PROGRAM. The GED carries the same weight as a regular high school diploma. Some employers feel it even shows an extra level of achievement.

Those who earned a GED reported the following benefits: felt better about themselves, improved their life in general, encouraged their children to finish school, got a better job, enrolled in additional schooling, and increased income.

GED classes are available to anyone who is at least 16 years old and has dropped out of high school. Before you can take the GED test, you must be at least 18 years old, or your high school class has already graduated. You can take the GED test before the age of 18 if you have a letter from a post-secondary institution stating that you will be enrolled as soon as you have your GED or you have a letter from an employer who says that you will be hired as soon as you have passed the GED test.

GED classes are FREE!
