4-H is a non profit Youth Development program. It is designed for youth between the ages of 8 ­18, and adult volunteers. The 4-H program offers hundreds of interesting and educational programs and projects for youth. 4-H clubs emphasize hands-on learning including parliamentary procedure. Snyder County currently has 13 4-H clubs ranging from community clubs to livestock clubs serving over 200 youth and 65 adult volunteers.

  Youth Leadership Lycoming

    At Youth Leadership Lycoming, high-school sophomores and juniors now have the chance to experience an educational program similar to the adult Leadership Lycoming program. Classes are tailored to issues facing today's teens, as well as issues facing today's society. The programs' objectives are to take a group of diverse students and help them recognize their own leadership potential and their potential impact on the community through volunteer opportunities. Students are encouraged to apply what they learned to promote leadership amongst their peers, thereby fostering other student's leadership potential .  
         
    Youth Leadership Lycoming is a leadership program for high school sophomores and juniors, which enables students to develop leadership skills, while increasing awareness of their community. Youth Leadership Lycoming offers students the opportunity to work with adult leaders in their community through daylong seminars held over a nine-month period. The sessions focus on leadership skills, environmental issues, citiz enship/government, media/communications, community issues, community needs, opportunities, challenges and resources.  
         
  Eligibility    
    * All students from Lycoming County public schools and St. John Neumann High School who are entering either
10th or 11th grade in the fall of the coming school (calendar) year.
* Previous applicants who were not chosen can reapply.
* Graduates of Youth Leadership Lycoming cannot reapply.
 
         
  Application Procedure    
    * The principal (or designated administrator) upon the recommendation from a teacher, coach, or extra curricular
activity director must approve the student for application.
* Students must complete the application, include 2 sealed letters of reference and return the packet to the principal.
* Applications are returned to the Selection Committee, or to the Youth Leadership Coordinator.
The Selection Committee will select 3 students from each school distric t for involvement in the program.
